I had some time to the 85 mm 1.4 Ai-s, so the manual version of this lens. Mechanically a dream, but at maximum aperture to 2.8 BL unfortunately quite strong over-exposure, which resembles a soft-focus effect. In addition to focus hard, because with 1.4, the Focus range is very narrow.
The new lens is a more than significant improvement, as is already at full aperture, the Very good quality, without radiation and with beautiful soft bokeh (blur the background). The autofocus is fast and precise.

Actually a perfect lens for portrait and low light conditions. However, the minimum focusing distance of 85 cm (same as its predecessors and by 10 cm better than the Canon 85 mm / 1,2) I think is not quite sufficient to scan faces fill the frame.
