News, March 2006
I hope ch, that you had an excellent holiday period. And no, I have not forgotten about "Christmas" as some seem to have in our federal government - I know that there are a few of you who celebrate other things, towards the end of December (eg, Hanukkah). One of my philosophies is the idea of respect for the other peoples, other cultures and other traditions. Although I do not take into account all elements of those traditions, this is no reason to ignore the people whose traditions are different from mine.
I have recovered from an extremely busy Christmas performance schedule, which included a Christmas Eve mass, my regular masses in the town of St. Augustine's and Christmas performances at two schools and a Rotary Club meeting, and in a very successful five-night gig with Stone Soul Picnic at the Casino du Lac Leamy increased. It has zurückgeruft the band to play on all Fridays and Saturdays in March at the casino.
Hot Ice currently attracts new musicians after the loss of their singer and their bass player. Now we have a new bass player, a German-Venezuelan, who is gennant Rico. I hope that we will begin immediately.
Meanwhile, I have bought new equipment. After over 28 years, bought me, I finally have a flute. As early as the autumn of 1977 I wanted to learn how to play the flute, but my parents said at the time that the flute is an instrument for the girls, "and so I began studying the clarinet instead. Over the years I have zurückgeschauen on her statement and wonder how we male flute players like James Galway, Moe Koffman, Joe Farrell, Pedro Eustache and Tim Weisberg then can explain. As a high school student, I unterrichtiete me how to play the flute, and I've never really lost my flute skills. And began as XS Cargo, clarinets, trumpets and flutes each $ 120 against the offer in late November, I thought that this was an opportunity that was too good to ignore. It may not seem like a lot at this price, but what I bought is perfect for my skill level.
I've also bought a Shure SM-58 microphone, a model, a music industry standard has been for many years. Before I was used with a Beyer MCE-81, but the microphone I was limited in that it requires an external power source, has not built any mixing console. The SM-58 has no such requirement, and also is the
MCE-81 designed more for recording than for live performance.
I am looking for 2006 to be a year of growth - the expansion of my clients, my equipment arsenal and the size of my performances. 2006 was a year of prosperity for all.
