News, February 2003
First, let me beg your pardon, I write that since the middle of October, no website updates. Normally I would write on Saturday afternoon the updates, but until recently I've been working on personal projects on Saturday afternoons. I have the intention to apply my time better: the location of a meeting I had Saturday morning, usually, has been moved to a place that is far closer to my house, so I can go home earlier than before it, and also have more time to write the updates my website .
Much happened in the last four months. About the same time, when I wrote the last web page updates, I've just been there to step into a Ottawa-based Caribbean band called Hot Ice, and at first I was worried that the only stylistic focus would be the band's reggae. When I keyboards for a Toronto-based rehearsal of a show called Sticks and Stones in the late 1980s, played the DJ played our final party nothing except reggae. But is it Hot Ice, thank God, also plays Soca and Zouk, about the modernized, fast versions of Calypso - pretty much like a Caribbean version of the Mediterranean rhythms, the Chick Corea in songs such as "Captain Marvel" and "Spain" is playing. And I like that. In addition, says Bob Popyk, a well-known columnist and speaker and a member of two local associations of the American Federation of Musicians, writes that one should not refuse a gig, just because they would play music on the do not like the man. Moreover bar had not played much; and Hot Ice, which is in a music market in which there is no great demand for Caribbean music is playing, not even much. So I felt I was right to adopt a second volume.
is about the same time arrived, a third band to me, as Mike Purdy, a barcode-guitarist, has been invite me, with the Fabulous Edsels to rehearse, a re-release of a band that originally formed in the North Dundas District High School in Chesterville was. The band plays rock from the early 50's and 60's. In the original version of the band members were some of the teachers and the rest students, and every few years would change the students' part of the band. The band was shown in the regional Telethon and Wayne Rostad On The Road Again Show , and participated in several charity events. This new incarnation of the band, known for short as the Edsel, has united some of the original members for a Silvesterabendsgig at the Chesterville Legion hall again, and I am the only member of the current band, who have not been a member of the original. Since then the band has decided to stay together, and we do some gigs in the pipeline, of which the earliest, I will rise in late March. Even the Legion zurückerbeten us to play the next Silvesterabendsgig. Currently, the band on for months Gap, because another their guitarist, Bernie Harper, is on holiday in Australia with his wife.
And as if that was not enough, I occasionally work with Tracy Annand-Robichaud, a member of the Cumberland Community Singers. You and I have played gigs at the officers' mess of the Royal Canadian Air Force at the Gloucesterstraße with a friend, Leona, and plan to book appearances at events like the Ottawa Tulip Festival, a jam session at the Nepean Sailing Club, and the regional Telethon.
What my plan to move to the United States is concerned, - well, that is still visible, but not as soon as I had originally hoped. My American Girlfriend with which I was gone for over 26 months, and I have been terminated in the middle of December our friendship. I will not bring embarrassment to the publication of the details of the breaking circumstances, but we only say that the distance of 490 miles connected between us, with some aspects of their nature-conditioning, which I began to see during the periods of our direct solidarity has given me more insight that it is right for me was not. So you now have a greater opportunity to book me for your event than you had before.
And early this month I have decided not only update to write for my website, but also to give the website a facelift. Why? The multi-frame method I do not like a lot, and a lot of websites that I have seen recently, also use this method. I also wanted to add this news section, and as long as it would need me anyway, that I changed the menu structure in every HTML file on the page, I might just as well to simplify the menu structure and link some parts of it in groups. I also work at the French and German translations of the page. (It may not even be that those languages, I strongly dominant, but I try!) I have the bar code section the side away, because I plan to create a separate website for it, as I do with the Edsel and Hot Ice do the time. And I give the text in bold type, so he better against the gray notation emerge.
